Refinement costs scales with the refinement rank of the current weapon

If refining a weapon from R1 to R5, it's cheaper to constantly use the R1 weapon to refine. Also, if you're refining your levelled weapon multiple times, make the other refines first (EX: For an R3 weapon, combine others to R2 before refining with the R3)

Just a further note, though your entry already explains this.
Mora cost to refine only scales with the current refinement rank of a weapon you wish to refine, regardless of the refinement rank of the identical weapon material.
As a difference, the Mora cost to refine a weapon to R5 for a 4*
- Refining a weapon to a higher refinement rank by using an R1 base each time is 1000 + 1000 + 1000 + 1000 = 4000 Mora
- Refining the same base to R2>R3>R4>R5, costs 1000 + 2000 + 4000 + 8000 = 15000 Mora(edited)
Note that you lose weapon levels doing the former
