Theory: Swirl reactions, when the AoE portion of the Swirl meets another enemy that has an aura, can react with that aura. This reaction will use the Anemo user's Character Level and Elemental Mastery to determine damage output ( when applicable ). The subsequent reactions work in the same way normal reactions do - a Hydro Swirl that spreads the Wet status in AoE onto an enemy with an Electro aura will cause Electro-charged, and onto an enemy with a Pyro aura will cause Vaporise, etc. Amplifying reactions work in the same way as they do otherwise - just using Swirl's damage as the base to be multiplied. Evidence: ( See next message ) Significance: Character weapon/artifact builds and team building around this knowledge.(edited)
Evidence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JMdHidAFEk From this video, using a level 89 Sucrose with 0 Elemental Mastery not wearing any artifacts, we can see that Swirl chain amplifying reactions work in the same way as normal - scaling off of Elemental Mastery and the respective reaction multiplier. A Cryo Swirl AoE that makes contact with an enemy with a Pyro aura causes the Cryo damage to reverse Melt, becoming amplified by 1.5x ( 632 -> 949 ) A Pyro Swirl AoE that makes contact with an enemy with a Cryo aura causes the Pyro damage to forward Melt, becoming amplified by 2x ( 632 -> 1265 ) A Hydro Swirl AoE that makes contact with an enemy with a Pyro aura causes the Wet application to Vaporise, doing no damage. A Pyro Swirl AoE that makes contact with an enemy with a Hydro aura causes the Pyro damage to reverse Vaporise, becoming amplified by 1.5x ( 632 -> 949 ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sexFAXpYlcM For further evidence, we can see that Elemental Mastery effects amplifying reactions as normal. Here, Sucrose has 692 Elemental Mastery, giving her a 92% bonus to Melt. A Pyro Swirl AoE that makes contact with an enemy with a Cryo aura causes the Pyro damage to forward Melt, becoming amplified by 2 x 1.92 = 3.84x ( 2027 -> 7783 ) A Cryo Swirl AoE that makes contact with an enemy with a Pyro aura causes the Cryo damage to reverse Melt, becoming amplified by 1.5 x 1.92 = 2.88x ( 2027 -> 5837 ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmRm0zO1C6Q As we can see here, with over 100% crit rate, a critical Swirl or chain reaction is not possible. Sucrose with 194 Elemental Mastery, giving her a 33.9 bonus. A Cryo Swirl AoE that makes contact with an enemy with a Pyro aura causes the Cryo damage to reverse Melt, becoming amplified by 1.5 x 1.339 = 2.0085x ( 1146 -> 2303 ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8yAPFLmMxA Transformative reactions: Electro-charged, Superconduct, Overload and Shatter.(edited)

The latest swirl stuff hasn't been merged to the public TCL but you can find it here: https://faranight001.gitbook.io/tcl/mechanics/combat/elemental-reactions/transformative-reactions anything not in there or the vault we don't have documented yet

Hmm in here, it says that Triggering Swirl in an AoE will cause up to two instances of Swirl damage per target., but the limit is two instances per element ( excluding Hydro which has no limit due to being single target ).
Faranight | too deep in swirlApr 26, 2021 2:27 PM
yes that's true, two per element. At the time I believe I just pulled it from the swirl breakdown linked but it's technically incorrect. Another reason why #swirl-guide would be better to link in that than the existing resource as it is less outdated.
I'll update the PR

@Faranight | too deep in swirl do you think this covers amplifying reactions enough or is there somewhere I should go into more detail?
Faranight | too deep in swirlApr 26, 2021 3:10 PM
That's perfect for showing scalings. Only other thing I can think of is covering crit, that's up to you if you want to extend it to that as well.
Maybe like 50% crit rate sucrose and then do a fair few tests and just calculate the odds that a crit happens. Or even test 5% rate vs high as you can get and they should all be the same number. Either way, but once again up to you to determine scope
TerrapinApr 26, 2021 3:12 PM
I don't see any reason why crit would be possible, it just takes the base Swirl damage and multiplies it, and Swirl can't crit ( Melt and Vaporise also can't crit, they just happen to add a multiplier to something that can crit ). So I don't really know how to introduce a test for that, other than just throwing 100% crit on myself and showing that it's not possible.
Faranight | too deep in swirlApr 26, 2021 3:26 PM
Yeah I agree, but it might be nice to explicitly show it due to the wiki misleading people into thinking it is possible This is genshin so the unexpected happens often when dealing with reaction related stuff.
once again though it's not my cal on scope. I can create another ticket for it some other day
