Theory: In line with previous evidence that was non-conclusive, it appears that Guoba actually does apply Pyro to himself whenever he attacks. If you time an AoE Anemo ability with his flame attack, it will cause a Pyro Swirl off of Guoba.

no
anything from infused atk like hutao, charged atk like amber, or projectile atk like yanfei won't swirl
only gouba is the weird one
and the weirdest thing is gouba's self pyro won't interact with anything else but swirl
i tried overload, melt, and vape but nothing happened
