shield strength can't apply to a shield
its a character stat
they give shield strength to the active character, it applies to all shields

iirc shield strength can be seen as just a dmg reduction stat for shields (which works differently from actual dmg reduction because it scales differently and is an independent multiplier)
like if u have 35% shield strength currently, then ur shields will take 1/1.35 = 0.74x dmg

so you need to activate both of their shields
so if A shield character has shield strength buff while B shielder doesnt
if you lose A shield earlier due to weaker shield, A wont give you the strength anymore

When the Jade Shield takes DMG, it will Fortify:
Fortified characters have 5% increased Shield Strength.
Can stack up to 5 times, and lasts until the Jade Shield disappears.

When your current active character obtains or refreshes a Blazing Barrier, this character's Shield Strength will increase by 5% for 6s.
This effect can be triggered once every 0.3 seconds. Max 5 stacks.
totm is also separate from any shield

no i mean if these stacking shielders have such "protected" condition, some may ask like, "then do u need to make them restack these buff when the shields break or remain them seperately?". w/e annoying thing to consider. so they just make it simple
unless they are willing to write 2x longer skill description for that

these shields are not changing in value when the character's stats change after the shield is created
pyronado's damage does not change in value when xiangling's stats change after the pyronado is created

are you sure they aren't just expiring from time
they all last very close to 12s
and you took a notably different amount of time to go from shield creation to bennett e in each clip, which would result in a different amount of ticks if the shield is expiring from time rather than damage
assuming it snapshots, the 2nd clip should have the same shield hp as the 1st, but i count ~34 ticks in the 1st and ~31 in the 2nd
and ~32 in the 3rd?

yeah its silly thing its hard to explain, so i dropped my point, its not important anyways. i just think from a functional standpoint an object that loses a value over time introduces problems if the value changes when buffs dissipate, as opposed to snapshotting damage where it doesnt exactly have the same dillema or functional problems if it doesnt exist. but yeah thats kinda just semantics lol

they could just change the remaining shield hp by a % equal to the % that the max shield hp would change by
or keep track of damage taken rather than remaining hp
and break when dmg taken > max hp
though the 2nd approach would sometimes result in the shield breaking at a moment when you don't take dmg
unless you specifically make that impossible

@Lethroz | #1 Snail 🐌 sorry for ping but do you know if the capybara local legend always does the exact same first attack? i was trying to see if i could record for thoma's shield using the same setup as your lan yan vids, but the results seem inconsistent, and idk if it's because the boss's first attack varies or something else
specifically, Q N1 no buff is somehow giving me a stronger shield than Q N1 -> buff, which feels very incorrect lol
even if his shield snapshots it should at least be the same strength i feel like

the other clips with buffs make sense, just the one with no buff that idk what is going on with it
ok the only possibility i could think of is timing with his a1, since in both the vids it seems to be about 6s between na and getting hit, so maybe his shield strength buff is running out in one of the clips and not the other

you could take the hit with a different character onfield to make sure they dont have his a1 buff

as long as u create the shield without that character being onfield

thoma HP buff -> Q -> N1 - 14854 dmg taken
seems that base shield does not snapshot, but shield refresh snapshots hp at the moment the normal attack hits
