Finding:
The Hakushin Ring weapon description does not make it abundantly clear that the equipping character can also receive the DMG% buff granted by the weapon, and while it may seem like common knowledge to anyone who has done TC work with the weapon before, there is no explicit evidence in the TCL that either confirms or negates this fact (or if there is, it's not easy to find). While testing this fact is very easy, it requires having the weapon, meaning a player would need to craft it first. Since crafting the Hakushin Ring is a one-way street that consumes valuable non-renewable resources (a billet), a clear statement in the TCL confirming that the Hakushin Ring can buff its own holder would be valuable for players on the fence about crafting the weapon.

These videos are also collected in a playlist at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTYPY0Wz71CPncYQI2w-HUJ-wtOz5pp-0

Chain reactions triggered by an anemo character were not tested, but Hakushin Ring has been confirmed to work with chain reactions previously, so it is assumed they are consistent with the findings here.

Significance:
Better documentation of Hakushin Ring's mechanics.
this is my first ticket, so I'm not sure what to do now, and the guidelines in #ticket-start-here don't provide the most detailed instructions for what comes next.
for instance, is this enough evidence? should i demonstrate this for every element of catalyst holder? should I demonstrate it for all possible reactions?

hi @jas | #1 baloopy hater , the general format for a ticket is:

Finding:
Hakushin Ring does blah blah blah (one or two sentences is fine)

Evidence:
Youtube video

Significance:
Better understanding of how hakushin ring works.
----
once you think you're done, you can type /close to close the ticket
as for the evidence, :keqhmm: i noticed that electro dmg didn't get buffed. does hakushin ring only buff the triggering element?
or non electro elements
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterTue, August 9, 2022 at 10:53 PM
a character can only receive a buff to their own element
Avatar
BowTaeTue, August 9, 2022 at 10:54 PM
oh i'm stupid
:kleekicant:
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterTue, August 9, 2022 at 10:54 PM
that much is clear from the weapon's description and it does work as expected, so i don't think i need to demonstrate that
Avatar
BowTaeTue, August 9, 2022 at 10:54 PM
so i assume yae receives an electro buff?
yeah you don't need to show that
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterTue, August 9, 2022 at 10:54 PM
yes, she does, even though i didn't show it in the video
I can do this for catalyst chars of every element that reacts with electro (except for cryo)
for completeness
Avatar
BowTaeTue, August 9, 2022 at 10:56 PM
sure that would be nice
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterTue, August 9, 2022 at 10:56 PM
do you think that would be necessary
got it

and then you can edit your first post into the format i posted, and then close the ticket

isnt this already in the description of the weapon? :keqhmm:
Avatar

i think someone in qph told them to make a ticket? doesn't hurt to clarify and we've given contributor for less effort before so :kekisonstarege:

:ohno:
might as well tell someone to make a ticket for Tenacity of the Millelith because wording is the same :ohno:
and zhongli c2

:keqhmm:
doing a quick discord search, it does seem like "does nearby party members include the weapon/artifact holder/ability caster" is a somewhat common question
usually the wording will say "(not including Yoimiya)" or "(excluding Sucrose)" to specify that the original member doesn't get a buff

Excluding wearer
In case of exile
Avatar
BowTaeTue, August 9, 2022 at 11:53 PM
but I think it doesn't hurt to have at least one test somewhere that shows that the wording means the entire party unless otherwise stated, since idt there's such evidence yet in TCL? will have to check
Avatar
daibangdenTue, August 9, 2022 at 11:55 PM
my understanding is when it says "nearby party members" it means in coop you dont get buff if you are too far from the wearer, but something like 4NO should ignore distance
because if you take the word to their literal meaning then "nearby party members" in single player should not buff anyone, because there is no one else nearby except yourself :kleekicant:

I think inactive characters are considered isnthebsame location as the active controlled character
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterWed, August 10, 2022 at 12:37 AM
it is, but i feel like my justification at the beginning of the ticket is reason enough to have something in the TCL about it - there are higher stakes for crafting a weapon than farming a domain (totm), for example
Avatar
daibangdenWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:04 AM
might as well add "off field character can also get the buff" because the description also doesn't make that clear either because they technically aren't nearby :keqhmm:
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:04 AM
sure, I can add that as well
Avatar
daibangdenWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:05 AM
also "higher stakes" is not something relevant, we make useless shit all the time :kleekicant:
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:05 AM
it's relevant for people that actually use the TCL for information that matters :texas939:
Avatar
daibangdenWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:06 AM
when then totm is pretty much needed
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:07 AM
i was looking this up earlier today to confirm how the buff should work for GO and couldn't find any verification in the TCL - but I didn't actually have a hakushin ring until crafting it just to verify this lol
would have been nice to see a confirmation for it so i didn't have to craft it

can just ask :keqOMEGALUL:
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:08 AM
i did just that, but there's no evidence
anyway, there are plenty of far less useful tickets than this, no?
it's certainly not harmful to have this info in the TCL
Avatar
daibangdenWed, August 10, 2022 at 01:10 AM
no one say it is, i was saying it is pretty obvious since it's stated in the description
:keqOMEGALUL: but if you think it's necessary then go ahead
Avatar
effab1eWed, August 10, 2022 at 04:36 AM
if it's not in the TCL it's worth getting evidence for
although i believe this isn't new info but having that evidence in tcl is fine
Avatar
jas | #1 baloopy haterWed, August 10, 2022 at 04:37 AM
yes it's definitely not new info
it just isn't present in tcl

@BowTae thoughts
im new scholar gonna have to check with people:pepela:

jas | #1 baloopy haterWed, August 10, 2022 at 04:38 AM
i have all the evidence ready, just uploading now
if this is a waste of time thats fine, i just thought it would be nice to have in the tcl
Avatar

hakushin ring passive for reference
After the character equipped with this weapon triggers an Electro elemental reaction, nearby party members of an Elemental Type involved in the elemental reaction receive a 10% Elemental DMG Bonus for their element, lasting 6s. Elemental Bonuses gained in this way cannot be stacked.
:derpfei:
party members means the whole team
i really dont think this is needed since effects that exclude the character its tied to usually state it
for example, rosaria
Casting Rites of Termination increases CRIT Rate of all nearby party members (except Rosaria herself) by 15% of Rosaria's CRIT Rate for 10s.
CRIT Rate Bonus gained this way cannot exceed 15%.

daibangdenFri, August 12, 2022 at 04:52 AM
since there are many effects that say "buff nearby party members" it's just weird having only ticket for one, just like how people keep doing separate ticket for Kazuha a4 sucrose a1 and instructor on object :keqOMEGALUL:
instead of this just make a ticket that confirm "nearby party members" mean all, and maybe only actual ones nearby including yourself if you are in coop

wasnt the whole point to document this for TCL

jas | #1 baloopy haterSat, August 13, 2022 at 02:42 PM
that was what I wanted, but people seem to think this is unnecessary
i still wish it was in the TCL for the reasons i mentioned before, but it's not a huge deal in the end
who decides whether it goes in or not?
