Finding: Higher ping environments slow down item pickup speed.
Evidence: Recorded at about 120ms, 250ms, and 450ms (lmao) ping.
Test procedure: scroll to the top of the 3x batch of items, then mash F on the keyboard as fast as possible.
Perceptible slowdown going from 120ms to 250ms
At 450ms, it becomes possible to double-tap items.
Presumably, similar things happen with any other kind of menuing that produces or spends items. Those items are harder to record, though.
Significance: More understanding of the effects of high ping on gameplay experience

I don't fully understand the question
am I being asked to precisely mathematically model a relationship between the client-side button press and the server-side receiving of the item?

Kinda
I'm asking the model the delay between the two
as a function of ping

This is a really hard question to answer well because:
1. I'm unwilling to install an autoclicker to click at speeds faster than I physically can. This muddles the "mash F and count frames between items acquired" method.
2. I have no way of querying the server on the exact time an item is received, in relation to when I press the button
The closest approximation I can come up with is counting frames between these two events:
When the item goes yellow on the screen, signifying I've pressed F
When the "F" prompt jumps to the next item down the list, signifying when it's asking me to pick up the next item
When I framecount this way, I get:
at 550ms: about 39 frames
at 260ms: about 21 frames
at 120ms: about 11 frames
which seems about linear
The ping speeds tested here can't be perfectly matched to the tests in the youtube clip because of the inherent variabilities of network environments, especially when pushing data through Somebody Else's Computer.

I think 'pick all' works on PC too, I think it's the mouse wheel click. LMB if in controller mode
