OLD FINDING (kept for reference)
Finding: Wanderer may sometimes [why?] not fire his A4 wind arrows after sprinting to extend his E duration. [1]

Theory (need further analysis): Wanderer does not fire arrows if the frames at which the arrows are to be fired occurs when he possesses no Kuugoryuku Points [3]. This cutoff frame may be dependent on ping as exiting his Windfavored state is server-side. [2]

Significance: Shows that E extension using sprint may not provide combat benefit due to being unable to fire A4 arrows.

probably wont touch this ticket until later this week, but the basic methodology for proving the theory would be to sample different frames at which wanderer dashes to extend his E state, then observe whether his A4 arrows were fired
and pray the cutoff isn't ping dependent :pepela:

Finding: Wanderer will not fire his A4 arrows if he dashes more than 590 frames (at 60fps) after entering his Windfavored state [1]. This cutoff frame is not ping dependent. [2]

Evidence:
[1]: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r9gM_OCswitln9kvOvaCara0K5SA40b7vfgVLHpJm9U/edit#gid=0 - Frame data
[2]: https://youtu.be/BIXdJGpqUOU - Test at high ping, showing that arrows still fire only before the cutoff frame. Listed in sheets as Video 3.

Significance: You should not dash too late if you wish to fire off Wanderer's A4 arrows near the end of his Windfavored state.

KEY - Field Descriptions

Field,Description,Why we measure this
Timestamp,The video timestamp when Wanderer enters his E state,The frame Wanderer's Burst icon greys out as he enters his E state is the 0th frame. We count the other markers relative to this.
Dash Start,The frame Wanderer begins his...
also im getting conflicting evidence for when wanderer exits his E state
turning airplane mode on for mobile still lets him run out and exit the state, but im not sure if this applies if the screen has already greyed out from the disconnection
might need to ask someone who understands the difference the greyed out disconnection screen makes

Hypothetical test (very cursed)
Player 1 hosts a world and is able to record their game. They watch and record player 2.
Player 2 is Wanderer and flies around. Shortly before E ends, Player 2 pulls their ethernet cable out of their PC.
what would this teach us? I'm not entirely sure. but it would be interesting.

:hmmge:
i havent looked into how client- and server-side interactions change in coop
best case is that player 2 appears to stay mid air since the point check is on their side, so this would indicate its a server-side thing
one possible worse case is that player 1 sees wanderer fall back down, in which case i dont even know how thatd happen :ohno: :ohno:

I did some trials in singleplayer at hilariously high ping (almost 500ms), idk if they're of any help. Only the last one failed to launch arrows. note: framecounter may be off by 1. The video was recorded then re-encoded to add the framecounter (and chop my UID off) https://youtu.be/BIXdJGpqUOU
judging by "feel" alone, I don't think it's a ping-dependent interaction. but I haven't counted frames.
method used to manipulate ping: use a VPN-like service to forcibly re-route the connection to Europe before it makes its way to the game server
single failed attempt to launch arrows:
Q grays out: frame 3027
initiate dash: frame 3619
difference: 592
This is consistent with the existing frame counts on the spreadsheet.

oooh this is perfect, thank you for testing this out on different ping
would you mind if i added you as a contributor for this btw
also on another note, what happens with the A4 arrow targeting at 0:43
two of them miss, and two of them appear to successfully lock on
is it because the first two arrows spawns when wanderer is outside of the targeting range, while the last two are within after dashing?

Sure, I'm happy to be added.
Huh, I didn't notice that 1 arrow missed and 2 locked on. I'm not home currently, so I couldn't really give a reason why.

ive narrowed down the frames and it seems like the cutoff is about 590 (potentially ±1 error with freeze frames etc)
Screen_Shot_2023-01-29_at_5.58.29_PM.png
i could be more rigorous and have a frame counter in my recordings as well and also try to land 589 frames to get a second data point
but i think this is sufficient
tidied up sheets and added more notes for the fields
should be all good unless anyone wants to add anything onto the finding
